The flu virus H1N1pdm09 is a strain of swine flu that has been proven to be resistant to the drug Oseltamivir / Tamiflu.
There are currently eight cases of the “super” swine flu virus confirmed in the UK (22.03.2013), cased have also been record in the United States and Australia.
Concerns have already been raised over another possible outbreak of the new deadly strain which poses a global threat.
The effects and symptoms of this strain in humans is comparable to the more commonly seen H1N1 strain, with the main difference being that the drug Tamiflu is powerless against it. The H1N1pdm09 strain is still sensitive to another antiviral drug Relenza (zanamivir).
